How to choose an IT outsourcing team: a checklist

Outsourcing development saves time and money — if you pick the right partner. The wrong one is expensive: lost months, rewritten code, missed deadlines. Here's what to look at before you sign.

Look at outcomes, not the pitch

Case studies beat slides. Don't ask for a "portfolio of pretty pictures" but for specifics: what the problem was, what they did, what measurable result followed. A good team will talk about real problems and how they solved them, not just wins.

Check the process, not just the stack

Technology is half the job. Ask how estimation, communication, releases and acceptance work. Is there CI/CD, code review, tests? Who's your contact and how often do you sync? A transparent process matters more than a trendy framework.

Questions worth asking

  • How do you lock scope and estimate — and what happens on changes?
  • Who owns the code and the access?
  • How are testing and security handled?
  • What about support after launch?
  • Who exactly will work on the project?

Red flags

  • A gut-feel estimate with no discovery
  • No questions about your business — only about the spec
  • Vague communication and slow replies already during sales
  • Promising everything, cheap and fast, all at once

A good vendor behaves like a partner, not a contractor: asks questions, flags risks, puts agreements in writing. At IntoClouds we start with a short discovery, lock the estimate and timeline, and work transparently. Let's talk through your project — drop us a line.
